Exploring the challenges of fishing sustainably and maintaining prosperous fishing communities from our oceans and rivers, World Fisheries Congress 2020 (WFC2020) will bring together research, industry, management and the latest technological advances in fisheries worldwide.
WFC2020 will showcase Australia, New Zealand and the broader Pacific region – home to an array of marine and freshwater habitats extending from the tropics to the Antarctic. Supporting large wild catch fisheries, modern post-harvest enterprises and vibrant recreational, charter and indigenous fisheries, the region is also at the forefront of scientific assessment and management of fisheries and aquatic ecosystems.
WFC2020 aims to foster cooperation in fisheries science, conservation and management. The Congress will provide insightful presentations and an inspiring forum for debate and discussion on critical developments needed to ensure the future sustainable development of the world’s oceans and rivers.
The Congress will be hosted on behalf of the Australian Society for Fish Biology and the broader Australian and New Zealand seafood industry in Adelaide, South Australia, a city famous for its food and arts. Delegates can immerse themselves in sporting and entertainment venues, beautiful parklands, cafes and restaurants only minutes away from the Adelaide Convention Centre venue. Easily accessible by air, Adelaide is also a gateway to superb sightseeing opportunities, with stunning beaches, celebrated wine regions and the world-renowned seafood hub of Port Lincoln just a short trip away.
WFC2020 is an event not to be missed. We look forward to welcoming you to Adelaide in October 2020 and showcasing all that our state, Australia and New Zealand hospitality have to offer.
